Our Story
Pasta Runs in Our Family
Manchester House of Pizza has been family owned and operated for over 35 years.
Originally a take-out restaurant, Vasilios (Bill) Konstantinou, along with his wife and 2 sons, opened their doors in the building that formerly housed the local Sears & Roebuck in Manchester Center, Vermont. Bill came from a family of bakers dating back to the early 1930’s. He owned a bakery and cafe in Greece before emigrating to America in 1977. Not only did he bring his knowledge and experience to the business, he also brought along many family recipes from Greece which are still enjoyed today including our homemade sauces and dough which are made fresh daily. Opening the restaurant in May of 1977, he quickly expanded his menu to include some of the favorite family dishes from Greece such as gyros and Greek salads.
Bill’s son Ari Konstantinou took over the family business in 1984, having worked alongside his parent and brother for many years. Today, Ari’s wife Nancy and their daughter Lia run the business. The family has embraced the Manchester area and supports other local businesses by buying local ingredients whenever possible. Whether that be fresh vegetables in the warmer months, to using local cheese from Vermont and New York, right down to offering a selection of local beers.
Having gained notable honors as the “Best Pizza in Ski Country” from Ski Magazine and “Best Pizza in Town” from Skiing Magazine, Manchester House of Pizza has enjoyed visits from some notable celebrities. From actors such as Michael J. Fox, Don Knots and Harvey Korman to athletes competing in the area like John McEnroe and Andre Agassi. Manchester House of Pizza was also frequently visited by our own part-time local resident, Dom Deluise.
